Can Ole Miss Hang with Georgia?
Nov 05, 23Can the #10 Ole Miss Rebels compete with the #1 Georgia Bulldogs? LOL. Let’s get real here. Georgia is probably the best college football team to ever decide to play football. I honestly don’t even know why they play the games, but instead just assert victory by fiat. That’s how good they are; they don’t even really need to play.
I kid. Of course Ole Miss can play with Georgia. Now, for sure, Georgia is a very good team, obviously, with a huge winning streak at something like 26 games. They have nothing but the top college athletes on their lines, and that’s where you win football games. Take star players and combine that with great coaching and you get Georgia. They have top-notch talent, and they have top-notch coaching. You’re not going to pull them offsides, and they will not make bone-headed mistakes. They are going to grind down just about anyone they face.
There’s a wild-card here that few people will talk about, but I’ve been following Ole Miss football since I was old enough to follow it, and I can tell you this: Ole Miss believes that beating Georgia is their right. This team believes it is going to win. Georgia has no bluff in on the Rebels. Alabama does, more than any other team, with Auburn second, but Ole Miss doesn’t give one shit about Georgia. The Rebels will play fast and loose. You can count on that.
Can the Rebels win? Probably not. That’s the realistic expectation. Still, Ole Miss is going to blow out an SEC team before this season is over. Mississippi State is the most likely victim, but the other bulldogs at UGA, well, let me just say this: If I was a Georgia fan, this Ole Miss team would make me very nervous. That’s all I’m saying. In this matchup, I’d much rather be a Rebel than a Bulldog. That’s all I’m saying.
