Cudy R700 Router One Week Later

It has been a week since I changed my main router to the Cudy R700, and it has worked flawlessly. I feel like it was a find. For $40, I have a highly efficient device that provides routing and firewall services, and nothing else. It is as if Cudy sought to create a bench device for the OpenWRT platform. I’m pleased.
I got inspired to go ahead and flesh out the rest of my network. My goal was to lay down a solid backbone for upcoming upgrades, especially in the smart home arena, and to that end, I ran a couple of new cables and set up three home networks that broadcast wireless with dumb APs. One network is for guest access, one is for smart devices, and one is the main LAN. The Cudy device provides DHCP for all three networks. Everything just works.
